It’s time, once again, for an update on
Roger’s activities, so here goes:
On Saturday, April 12, 2008,
Roger was again honored by the Los Angeles County
Chapter of the Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge
at a special event held at The Regency Club in
Los Angeles. The event was put together quite eloquently
by Jacque Heebner, Chair, Marilee Hawkins, Co-Chair
and the rest of their Benefit Committee. The evening
started with a reception and silent auction, followed
by dinner. Then Roger and his 5-piece ensemble
entertained as only they can do. Wink Martindale
did the honors in hosting this part of the program
and he presented a special award to Roger for his
efforts in motivating the youth of America through
his music. Congratulations, Roger!
Roger was asked to play for the Hour of Power
services on Sunday, June 1. It came up quickly
so didn’t get listed on his schedule for
the Website. There was a 2-week delay in airing
so was seen on TBN on Sat. June 14 and Lifetime
on Sun. June 15 (Father’s Day). He played
a medley of “Yellow Bird” and “The
Impossible Dream”. |
Reader’s Digest released his CD
- “Your All-Time Favorites” - in
May. He is scheduled to do another CD
to be released in the fall.
Roger will be “guest of honor” at
a private luncheon on September 17 at
the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum
at Yorba Linda, California. Roger will be presented
with the “Pianist For The Presidents” award
at that time. Over the years Roger has played
for nine presidents starting with Harry Truman.
Roger has been approached by PBS to do a special.
Further word on this will be forthcoming.
Roger is looking forward to returning
to Las Vegas Sept. 26-28 - this time
at the new South Point Casino and Spa. South
Point already has his appearance listed on their Website.
Showtime each night is at 7:30 P.M. and tickets
are priced at $25/$30/$35. So anyone can order
tickets now. Log on to www.southpointcasino.com.
Roger last appeared in Vegas in March 2006.
That’s all the news for now. More later
this fall.
